Product Overview
Composition: Amantadine ( 100 mg)
AMANTREL 100MG contains Amantadine which belongs to the group of medicines called Dopamine agonists or Anti-viral agents. It is used in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease (a progressive nervous disease that causes tremor, muscular rigidity and slow imprecise movements), prevent and treats various strains of influenza A virus (caused by the multiplication of the virus inside the body).
It is also used to treat shingles (herpes zoster) to reduce pain, which is a reactivation of chickenpox virus causing a painful rash and drug-induced extrapyramidal reactions (such as involuntary muscle contraction, tremors, stiff muscles, and involuntary facial movements caused by antipsychotics and other drugs).
Before taking AMANTREL 100MG inform your doctor if you have any problems related to kidney, liver or heart (which may cause shortness of breath or ankle swelling), any mental illness like schizophrenia (mental disorder) or dementia (memory loss) and glaucoma (increased pressure in the eyes).

Side Effect
Common side effects:
- Nausea
- Dryness in mouth
- Constipation

- Blurred vision
- Insomnia (difficulty in sleeping)

- Peripheral edema
- Balance disorder (loss of balance)
- Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing)
How to use
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Amantrel Capsule may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How It works
Amantrel Capsule is a dopamine agonist that treats Parkinson's disease. It works by increasing the amount of dopamine, a chemical messenger in the brain which regulates body movements. It also has an antiviral property. It works against viruses to prevent their growth and multiplication. It also appears to restricts the viruses to release infectious chemicals (viral nucleic acid) to enter into the body. Thus, it prevents and treats Influenza infection.
What if you forget to take?
If you miss a dose of Amantrel Capsule, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Pregnancy
Amantrel Capsule may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Breastfeeding
Amantrel Capsule is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Alcohol
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Amantrel Capsule.
