Product Overview

  1. Eye Infections: Ofloxacin eye drops are prescribed to treat bacterial eye infections, such as conjunctivitis (pink eye), keratitis (inflammation of the cornea), and other eye conditions caused by susceptible bacteria.

  2. Ear Infections: Ofloxacin ear drops are used to treat bacterial infections of the external ear canal, often referred to as swimmer's ear or otitis externa. They may also be used to manage chronic ear infections.

How It Works:

Ofloxacin belongs to a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. It works by inhibiting the growth and replication of bacteria. Specifically, it interferes with the DNA replication process of the bacteria, preventing them from reproducing and causing the infection to resolve.

How to Use:

Follow these general guidelines for using Ofloxacin eye/ear drops:

Eye Drops:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly before using the eye drops.
  2. Tilt your head back or lie down and look upward.
  3. Gently pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
  4. Hold the dropper tip close to your eye without touching it.
  5. Squeeze the prescribed number of drops into the pocket created by pulling down the lower eyelid.
  6. Close your eye gently and keep it closed for a minute to allow the drops to spread.
  7. If you need to use drops in both eyes, wait at least 5 minutes before applying them to the second eye.
  8. Avoid touching your eye with the dropper to prevent contamination.

Ear Drops:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly.
  2. Lie down on your side with the affected ear facing up or tilt your head so that the ear is upward.
  3. Gently pull the earlobe of the affected ear upward and backward to straighten the ear canal.
  4. Hold the dropper above the ear canal and place the prescribed number of drops into the ear.
  5. Keep your head tilted for a few minutes to allow the drops to penetrate the ear canal.
  6. You can use a cotton ball to gently plug the ear, but avoid pushing it too far into the ear canal.

Dosage and Treatment Duration:

Use Ofloxacin eye/ear drops exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. The dosage and duration of treatment will depend on the type and severity of the infection.

Precautions:

  • Do not use Ofloxacin drops for viral or fungal infections, as they are only effective against bacterial infections.
  • If you experience any allergic reactions, severe irritation, or worsening of symptoms, stop using the drops and contact your healthcare provider.

Always complete the full course of treatment, even if your symptoms improve before the medication is finished. If you have any questions or concerns about using Ofloxacin eye/ear drops or experience side effects, consult your healthcare provider or pharmacist for guidance.
