Product Overview

Fex 120mg tablet is an anti-allergic medicine that is used to treat and relieve allergic symptoms like itching, running nose, sneezing, swelling and watery eyes. Furthermore, it is also used to reduce the skin allergy which is caused by many factors like food, medicine, or any other external factors. It is also used to treat seasonal allergies in adults and children. It should be taken as recommended by the physician. Some of the minor side effects may be seen such as vomiting, headache, diarrhea, and pain in leg and arms. Stop taking medication if the patient feels difficulty in breathing and swelling of face, lips ,tongue, hand and feet.


Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should not take this medicine without consulting a doctor. It is also used to treat seasonal allergies in adults and children.

Uses

Seasonal allergic rhinitis.  Adults and children age 12 and older: 60 mg P.O. b.i.d. or 180 mg P.O. daily.  Children ages 6 to 11: 30 mg P.O. b.i.d.   Chronic idiopathic urticaria.  Adults and children age 12 and older: 60 mg P.O. b.i.d.  Children ages 6 to 11: 30 mg P.O. b.i.d.   Dosage adjustment.  For patients with creatinine clearance less than 80 ml/minute, increase dosage interval to every 24 hours.

Side Effect

CNS: fatigue, drowsiness. 

GI: nausea, dyspepsia. 

GU: dysmenorrhea. 

Other: viral infection.

How It works

Pharmacodynamics  Antihistaminic action: Principal effects of fexofenadine are mediated through selective inhibition of peripheral H 1  receptors.  Pharmacokinetics Absorption: Rapidly absorbed.  Distribution: 60% to 70% bound to plasma protein.  Metabolism:  Approximately 5% of the total dose is metabolized, by cytochrome P450 3A4 and by intestinal microflora. Excretion: Mainly excreted in feces; less so in urine. Mean elimination half-life of drug is 14 1/2 hours.
