Product Overview

LOTACE H(Losartan potassium/Hydrochlorothiazide) is a combination of an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (losartan) and a diuretic (hydrochlorothiazide). Angiotensin II is a substance produced in the body which binds to receptors in blood vessels, causing them to tighten. This results in an increase in blood pressure. LOTACE H helps to decrease and control the high blood pressure.

Uses

This combination medication is used to treat essential hypertension (high blood pressure) in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by either Losartan or Hydrochlorothiazide alone.

Side Effect

Common side effects of Losartan + Hydrochlorothiazide may include dizziness, headache, fatigue, increased urination, and electrolyte imbalances (such as low potassium levels).

How to use

It is taken orally, with or without food with a glass of water.

How It works

Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide work together to lower blood pressure through different mechanisms. Losartan blocks the action of angiotensin II, causing blood vessels to relax and widen, while Hydrochlorothiazide increases urine production, reducing the volume of fluid in the blood vessels.

Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide may also pass into breast milk, so their use is generally not recommended while breastfeeding.
