Composition: Olanzapine 10mg

OLPAZ 10 is an antipsychotic medicine used to treat Schizophrenia (a mental disorder characterized by abnormal behavior, false beliefs, confused thinkings, hearing voices that others do not hear etc) and bipolar disorder (a mental disorder that causes periods of depressive episodes and elevated moods).

Uses

  • Schizophrenia(a mental disorder in which a person’s thinking ability, feelings and behavior become abnormal)  It improves thoughts, behavior and enhances the quality of life.
  • Mania (helps calm the mood and relax the nerves and stabilises the mood and prevents the symptoms of mania from recurring again. 

Side Effect

Common side effects:

  • Dizziness, feeling unsteady, or having trouble keeping your balance.
  • Restlessness.
  • Unusual behavior.
  • Depression.
  • Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep.
  • Weakness.
  • Difficulty walking.
  • Constipation.

How to use

Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. To reduce your risk of side effects, your doctor may direct you to start this medication at a low dose and gradually increase your dose. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully.

Olanzapine belongs to a class of drugs called atypical antipsychotics. It works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural substances in the brain.

Allergy

Before taking olanzapine, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Babies born to mothers who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may rarely develop symptoms including muscle stiffness or shakiness, drowsiness, feeding/breathing difficulties, or constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms in your newborn especially during their first month, tell the doctor right away.
