Calcium acetate belong to a group of medicines called phosphate binders which is used to prevent high blood phosphate levels in patients who are on dialysis due to severe kidney disease.
Uses
It is used to:

- Diarrhoea
- Constipation
- Loss of appetite.
How to use
Take the medicine exactly as directed by your doctor. Swallow the medicine whole with a little water. If you cannot swallow the medicine whole, they may be broken first.
Do not chew them.
How It works
Calcium acetate is in a class of medications called phosphate binders. It binds phosphorus that you get from foods in your diet and prevents it from being absorbed into your blood stream.
